This course is offered for one half high school credit. It's an exciting option for students seeking something different, such as business ownership after high school. This course walks students step-by-step through how to build their own business. This course requires PowerPoint software for viewing presentations.

Penny Richardson

Penny Richardson has built and owned several businesses throughout her career. She holds a master’s degree in education and is an experienced, licensed teacher in the subjects of science, math, business education, accounting, entrepreneurship, and physical education. She has taught high school, junior high school, and adults.

Currently, Penny co-owns three businesses. She primarily consults for prison education administrators in program improvement, conducts evaluations, and provides customized teacher training. She has also conducted education research within the field of correctional education.

Penny has traveled extensively throughout the United States and many European countries. She spent a year bicycling through 15 countries, has run two marathons, and enjoys her independent lifestyle.

You can take up to six months for a completely independent self-paced course. This course is also offered as a blended application course in which you are a participant on a schedule with other students on a fast-paced program of 5-6 weeks. The blended course offers group meeting times with the instructor at regular intervals.
